Nichole and Scott got married on a crisp and overcast November day at Wente Vineyards in California’s wine country. But she had her hair and make up done at their home, which was about a half hour away from the winery, and since we didn’t know the lay of the land, we decided to get there a day early, which was good, because that way we could go to the rehearsal the day before the wedding.

And not only could we go to the rehearsal, we could spend a day at the winery, tasting their really good wine. It was so good, we bought a couple cases to take home.

The ceremony was held outdoors and because of the weather, the lighting was perfect. And the reception was held right behind the double doors where they did their vows.

Now, about how we met Nichole and Scott. Scott called us on the day before Christmas Eve, wanting to know if we’d work on the day before Christmas and if so, would we shoot his surprise engagement up at Lake Tahoe. We had plans, but we canceled them, because a surprise engagement sounded like way more fun.

It was cold when we got to the lake and Sand Harbor was deserted. We pretended to be tourists with cameras and when Nichole and Scott got to the lake and started wandering toward us, Nichole saw we were shooting in their direction and told Scott that they should move and not spoil our pictures.

Then he dropped onto a knee and pulled out the ring and moved in closer, snapping away and Nichole figured it out. And obviously, she said yes.
