Walkabout, Day 31 — April 11, 2018

We had a date to meet friends at the Press Start Bar and Arcade in MidTown at 5:00, so we decided to take our walkabout earlier and to do it at Rancho San Rafael Park, because it’s so close.

We’ve walked in San Rafael Park a lot, despite the fact that they’ve put in a really ugly fence, which ruins photographs. Awhile back I asked the management there why they did it, you know, put in the fence, and they told me people come in at night and dig up the flowers, so they had to lock the park up at night to keep the thieves out.

And that’s a bummer, but one we lived with. But we discovered it’s even worse then we thought when we decided to take the upper walking trail, something we hadn’t done in a couple years. And, lo and behold, we discovered that ugly fence goes right through it. You’ve walked along and after a bit, BAM you run into the fence, which leaves you two choices, climb over it, or go back the way you came and take the lower trail.

So, pooh on you, Rancho San Rafael park. I know you wanna protect your flowers, but in doing so, you not only ruined our photos with your fence, but you ruined a great trail too.

Here’s our friend Mike, who we ran into right after we got to the park. Walking the perimeter of the park is a two mile hike. Mike does it a lot. We do to.

Usually, Vesta’s the one who photographs flowers, but sometimes, not often, but sometimes, I do too.

According to Google Images, these are tulips. I wouldn’t have thought so, but Google knows.

These are daffodils as are the flowers in the photo below.

Here are Megan and Paul, who we met as we were walking through the park. Megan graduated from UNR and Paul’s still in school, because his education was interrupted by a stint in the Army.

We have photographed a lot of engaged couples on this bridge.

After we left the park, we headed on over to Press Start, where we were gonna have a few drinks with friends and on the way, we saw our friend Michael, walking toward the bar. So Vesta cut him off, I got outta the car and took his picture and then we gave him a ride to the bar.
